The FEMS mission deeply resonates with me—an intentional space and slam tournament that centers femme people in their various intersections. I wanted to make a system for them that was easy to implement for volunteer designers (of varying experience), but didn’t feel too stuffy or corporate. I wanted to reflect their grassroots style, so I gave the flowers in the logo a more home-grown feel, and went with a script typeface for headings. I gave them a long logo style (bookended by the microphone logo), and a shorter motif (the logo itself with no text). In 2018, FEMS achieved nonprofit status with my branding as the face of their important, necessary work.
